2016 Legal Year in Review

In 2016, Christenson Johnson, LLC, Attorneys at Law served individuals, couples, and families with their legal needs for estate planning, elder law, special needs planning, probate and trust administration, and real estate matters.  We thank you for your business and your confidence in us, and we aim to continue to provide excellent service in the new year.

For a 2016 legal year in review for Christenson Johnson, we note the following highlights in our legal field and in our law firm’s practice:

  • Attorney Iris Christenson joined the board of the South Central Wisconsin Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, where she contributes to the organizational and financial success of the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.  Iris spearheaded Christenson Johnson’s team participation in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in October.
  • Attorney Barbara Hughes joined Christenson Johnson as an of counsel attorney, expanding the firm’s experience and knowledge in the areas of special needs law, elder law, and complex estate planning.  With over 30 years of experience, her roles in the Special Needs Alliance and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and her work in legal and advocacy organizations, Barb serves her clients and the entire community with great skill and commitment.
  • Attorney Mark Johnson was named a Fellow of the Wisconsin Law Foundation, in recognition of his professional achievements and outstanding contribution to the legal community.  In addition, Mark was accepted into the inaugural class of the State Bar of Wisconsin’s G. Lane Ware Leadership Academy to develop current and future leaders in state-wide bar activities.
  • The ABLE (Achieving a Better Life Experience) Act, a new development in the law for special needs planning, became a reality! ABLE accounts allow certain individuals with disabilities to have assets in excess of the resource limits of certain government benefits programs.  The attorneys at Christenson Johnson stay abreast of new developments in the law, like the ABLE Act, so we may serve clients with the best options and resources for their circumstances.
